- Even if your Mac can run Lion or Mavericks, you'll need to upgrade to Snow Leopard first as an intermediary step, since Tiger and Leopard can't access the Mac App Store and can't perform in-place.
- Download macOS Big Sur. If you're using macOS Mojave or later, choose Apple menu System Preferences, then click Software Update. If you're using an earlier macOS, use the App Store instead. Learn how to download and install macOS Big Sur. Go to the App Store.
- To perform the direct upgrade as it stands today, users will need to have created an OS X Mountain Lion USB installer from which to boot off of and upgrade with, though there is a possibility that a Snow Leopard Mac will also have access to Mountain Lion directly from the Mac App Store.
Jun 10, 2008 Well, obviously Leopard (and Tiger and most likely Panther, Jaguar and Puma too) both support multi-core machines. Snow Leopard just makes it easier for developers to take advantage of them. OpenCL looks like a very exciting technology though. Definitely not a free upgrade.
If the installer needs more storage space to upgrade, you can free up space using tools that come with your Mac.
